(This is not news.) But conservation is a _good idea_ whether one believes in peak oil or not. After all, the external costs of burning fossil fuels are gigantic, encouraging global warming, rising acidity of the oceans, etc. (If we've really attained "peak oil," that's a good thing, I'd guess, since it would discourage the use of fossil fuels.) The Lynch article is about peak oil, not global warming (or other side-effects of burning fossil fuels or using them in other ways).
