I haven't been following this thread, and dI've read very few of David Shemano's posts over the years, but I presume he assumes that individuals exist -- which is a manifestly false premise. Consider, wherever and whenever we find ourselves, we are always already enmeshed in an ensemble of social relations, direct and indirect, apart from which we simply do not exist. Any attempt to explain the world as the sum or product of the actions of "autonomous" individuals, existing prior to and independently of social relations, will always end in impossible contradictions.
