We should also remember the "twofer" case of Yassir Arafat, once he'd made a deal: the "West" corrupted him by giving the PA aid -- through him -- and then (when he disagreed with the "West"), dismissed his opinions as those of a corrupt man. Similarly, the "West" helped to corrupt Karzai and then can dismiss his criticisms (for example) of civilian deaths at the hands of "Western" bombing by air.
