Or the fact that the piece appeared in the WSJ for that matter. It will be interesting to see how Washington responds to the AKP's realignment to the East. Considering the mess that the EU is in, who can blame Turkey for doing otherwise?

I can't stand political Islam but I do get a kick out of the anxiety the AKP provokes in the WSJ and elsewhere. The irony of course is that the military gave support to the Islamists over 20 years ago to help isolate the left.

Given the unsatisfactory nature of Islam in power in both Turkey and Iran, it would behoove thinking people in those parts to dust off their Marxism. Too bad that some Marxists are doing everything they can to replace "State and Revolution" with the koran.
