I think her point was that it could be construed as an adrenalin rush by young 
males, in particular, nothwithstanding that it was terrifying. Movies rarely 
portray war as anything other than hell these days, but that doesn't 
necessarily make them antiwar. In this case, the occupying troops are depicted 
as "heroes" - I have seen the filmmakers Bigelow and Boal characterize them as 
such in interviews - while the Iraqi victims, as the reviewer notes, are mainly 
seen as faceless "predators and ingrates", which is, I bet, what most Western 
audiences take from it.

Too bad Proyect and Miller aren't the hosts of nationally-syndicated At the 
Movies.
