it looks like an interesting article, but for some reason the PDF file
shows up as blank.

IMHO, economists' physics envy has a lot to do with the bureaucratic
fact that it's hard to judge what "good economics" is for tenure
decisions and the like, so that people use "good math" or just "lots
of math" as the metric.
