I am not an anti-golf fanatic, but golf is very wasteful of water, uses inordinate amount of chemicals. How many soccer or baseball fields would fit in a golf course?
I have posted to the list before the paragraphs from the Confiscation of American Prosperity showing the negative association between golf and corporate performance. That might be good or bad. Regarding Max's take on golf vs. sprawl, many developed used to build a golf course on unused land as the first stage in starting a new development (sprawl). Regarding caddies: don't many courses forbid caddies because golf carts provide a faster turnover? Some courses are supposedly run on a more environmentally friendly way. The chemicals can be regulated, but then capitalism could be overturned also. -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail michael at ecst.csuchico.edu michaelperelman.wordpress.com _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
