If the economy improves enough to help him win re-election there will be two
good things to be grateful for -- 1)  The suffering of those who have borne
the brunt of this recession will be somewhat mitigated.
2)  The tide of fascism will have be (briefly?) interrupted.

[who knows we might see Scalia or Thomas or Kennedy replaced by a
"moderate"...]

I am serious about the latter point.  I wonder how many Penners have thought
about whether fascism is a clear and present danger.

The Tea Party people have many different views but they have been channeled
towards the WORST possible kinds of elected representatives and the Supreme
Court Citizens United ruling has opened the door to naked corporate control
of the political agenda.
