I have some friends who argue that Obama is a one-term president and
thus can (and _should_) try to shake things up, reform the system,
build the power of the DP for the future, etc., because he's really
got nothing to lose politically. It's clear that BHO didn't get that
message. In some ways he seems like a disappointed rationalist, who
first tried to convince the politicians with reason and then decided
that all he could do was subordinate reason to the power of the
politicians.
