Lacking any real committment to and confidence in the capacity of the base to sustain a struggle, they quickly turned away from it and tried instead to wheedle and charm petty concessions from their opponents in the new circles in which they moved. Though hardly a militant, given his past associations and sympathies, Obama seems to fit that mold and to have followed a similar path. Lest we throw too many stones, the far left has also experienced its share of defections over the generations. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
