I try to avoid (not always too successfully) psychoanalyzing other people, and I reject off hand attempts to read my mind. (Reading minds and psychoanalyzing or psychological analysis are more or less synonymous terms.) Repugnance is a matter of taste, not a political judgment. The DP, which consistently, in office and out of office, acts like a governing party, is more dangerous than the Republican Party. Most of the seriously destructive policies of the last half century have been initiated by the DP. Eisenhower was an exception: he out Dp-d the DP almost.) Kennedy's Inaugural Address was sort of a formalization of all the viciousness which emerged during Eisenhower's presidency. I was still a Democrat then, but the "Ask not what you can do etc" was too much even for me to swallow at the time, though it didn't shake my loyalty. I just dismissed it as unfortunate rhetoric.

Like a lot of my American leftist friends who were once Democrats and became disillusioned, you've always been viscerally fixated on them, like lapsed Catholics who can't get past their bitterness about the Church. I can recall few posts where you haven't been preocuppied with the subject, denouncing anyone who doesn't share your juvenile outrage at your old party as a "liberal" who ipso facto has illusions about it.
