I haven't read the article, but I want to make a general comment which applies to most "criticisms" of Obama from left liberals and too many radicals.
Most of these critiques ignore the most obvious point: Obama _believes_ in the policies he follows. He is NOT a bumbling or misguided or merely lukewarm friend of working people. He is an active, intelligent and supremely competent advocate of the interests of u.s. capital. Moreover, he has declared that he would be willing to be a one-term president. I believe him. That statement was his declaration of independence from his liberal followers. He will do what he thinks right regardless of political consequences. And what he thinks is right is very bad news for the rest of us. I suggest a careful reading of the final chapter of Wages, Price and Profit. It has become of startling current relevance. We have had nearly four decades of an ever-intensifying assault on workers' income: wages, benefits, public and private pensions, and so forth. We need to stop being press box kibitzers of the internal political hassles of the u.s. corporate elite and their political comrades. Criticisms of Obama on this list and lbo-talk are little more than the chatter of fans in the bleachers. Instead of this endless complaining that our enemy doesnt' act like our friend begin to focus on the building of a countervailing power. Wailing at Obama is a childish game.
