The first part of your comment strikes me as correct, the second wrong. Profoundly wrong. Obama is simply not as intelligent or as clever of a politician as everyone seems to give him credit for. Yeah, he is not as ignorant as Bush, but that's not saying much. And his political achievements consist of one election win - aided by 8 years of Bush and a historic depression. Nothing he has done since that election win strikes me as especially intelligent or politically savvy. So, no I don't think he is a "supremely competent advocate of the interests of u.s. capital".
