I don't think that the Tea Party is necessarily racist or fascist, although I have no doubt that racists and even fascists might be comfortable there. If I were to find a Weimar connection, it would be that masses of people left adrift in a dysfunctional economy become disoriented and susceptible to propagandistic manipulation. In this way, people angry over the bank bailouts, become part of a movement that threatens Social Security and Medicare.
