Carrol: "Fascism" was a specific political current in inter-war European
states; the word should be dropped from left vocabutlary because its use
(a) is usually connected to a puerile analgy to 1930s Germany, on the
basis of which we should all give up our politics and join the DP, and
(b) dangerously obscures the tremendous repressive capacity of
capitalist democracy. Moreover, it is really obscurantist to suggest
that a racist practice or ideology is unqique to fascism. The Tea Party
of course is not fascist but it is 100% racist, and has no other reason
for existing.
