Lille, where the scandal started, is where Martine Aubry, head of the PS, is mayor. Aubry and DSK had a "pact" where the "best" of the two would run for the PS primaries. After the NY incident, DSK decided not to run and Aubry eventually lost last sunday to François Hollande, ex-husband of Segolène Royal, PS candidate to the last presidential election who lost against Sarkozy. It looks like high level police officers in the area are involved in the case and I would not be surprised if public officer at the Lille city hall (ie people working directly under Aubry) were involved either.
