One very interesting finding for the geographer is Branko Milanovic's study
of how on a global scale and often within nation states regional inequality
proves greater
than within region inequality: as he puts it the effects of location are
greater than those of class ( a point in makes in criticism of Marx). Some
of his data are stunning on this again both on a global scale and within
countries, e.g. China. I don't know of any work in which the authors
analyze such recent data in terms of Marxist theories of uneven
development.
I too would love to hear about such work if it exists.
