I often hear: "Living standards now are so high that young people feel no
need to study hard. What for? They can always live on welfare. They become
lazy, play basketball all day instead of studying. Some have even started
sitting in parks. The education system should definitely be better, but
only private schools can do that. Public teachers - especially the
unionized - are as lazy as the children they teach. Their living standard
is high, they can't be fired - there is no reason for them to work hard."
