Last evening I attended one of a number of programs dedicated to Occupy
Wall Street at NY’s Anthology Film Archives, an altar to envelope
pushing films both past and present. Ken Jacobs, an elder statesman (he
is 78) of the avant-garde was there to introduce his latest work that
basically amounted to raw footage of Zuccotti Park shot with a Fuji 3D
camera. Jacobs is an enemy of conventional values, both esthetic and
political, and I was curious to see other films by a man that the
Anthology described as “a filmmaker who has long distinguished himself
by combining perceptual experimentation with impassioned political protest.”
