Dear Jim, Invoking Hitler's name to establish an analogy is always dangerous, as your response also demonstrates. What I had in mind was an analogy between the US imperialist expansion in North America and the German attempt to do the same during WWI and WWII in Europe. German strategy has been similar to the US strategy - rather than the UK strategy, which was global - and, of course, in all of them finance capital played a major role. I don't think the French finance capital is an equal partner of the German finance capital in the current state of affairsą¤. One needs to ask this question: who is the creditor in Europe? Germany is the answer. France is running a current account deficit.
