Those at the top throw the rest of us "bones" when there's political pressure from outside of "normal channels" for them to do so. Enough people yell about Larry being a jerk (etc.) and show that people outside of the establishment actually care about who's the head of the WB, so Obama _et al_ make concessions however meaningless they may be in the end.
