Ahh. An interesting (because unexpected) response.
You are of course correct: It is not possible to believe what one does not
believe. That, incidentally, is the refutation of all those who see
dogmatism as somehow a character defect rather than an honest error! One
can't believe otherwise than what one believes.
And of course, everyone has the "right" to his/her own opinion. The rub
comes, however, if you expect others to share your belief, for the fact that
your belief is your belief does not mean that it must be the belief of
others.
So the question becomes how can we move towards shared belief.
