having just moved from the suburbs, my problem with them (in addition to the boring and ecologically-bad commute) is that life there is mind-numbing. Complete "keeping up with the Jones" purchases of Winnebagos... The city --- even a city within a city, such as my new home in Culver City -- is more stimulating (and has fewer Mitt Romney and "Nobama" bumper stickers).
(In case you were wondering, it _is_ called the City of Culver City City Hall.)
