I think you are onto something very important. How else can you make sense
of the present-day Republican Party? They are now the party of the Southern
whites, to whom even in this day and age, white supremacy is absolutely
central to their Weltanschauung. They have finally realized that they have
lost and they won't go quietly. They want to burn this country down now
that they have lost it for good.
