Brecht wrote a wonderful poem, "Germany, Pale Mother." Every line of it still fits perfectly if one substitutes, "America, Pale Mother." I do think that at the beginning of the 21st-c all enemies of the U.S. are friends of humanity, willy-nilly. It is impossible to overestimate the threat the U.S. poses to the human future.
