While listening to the discussion of 'gun legislation' today it occurred to me
that the discussion of second amendment has moved significantly in recent
popular discussion, what with the widely heard denial that publicly owned guns
can overcome the power of the government. Seems like fifteen years ago that
'gun rights' were described as serving squirrel hunters and home/self-defense.
If there is a change of social attitude, or wider willingness to admit to
militia sentiment across the public, that seems like it should be an
opportunity to build a 'bridge'.

Another issue that's been on my mind - probably related to a recent MotherJones
article re PTSD. Would the issue of a PTSD diagnosis (assuming that the VA
admits that it exists) result in disqualifying the patient for gun ownership,
or should it? Would that result discourage PTSD sufferers from pursuing
treatment? Could the issue be framed as a 'bridge' between the left and right?
