Ironic that the "Institute for New Economic Thinking" should evoke anxiety about examining Marx in the context of history of economic thought. My proposal for a work-around would be to highlight the work of Sydney J. Chapman on the hours of labor and the history of the Lancashire cotton manufacturing industry. One could construct an entire "shadow Marxism" out of neo-classical and institutionalist texts that corroborate various and sundry of Marx's theoretical positions.
