Whether you like eugenics or not, it has always been in general  
practice ever since the first ill-formed baby was exposed a few  
million years ago.  It is now perhaps more prevalent than ever (since  
defective fetuses can now be detected and aborted) and in the  
immediate future the shaping of heredity will become all but general.   
The Church is and presumably will always be a staunch advocate of  
disgenics. But the mass of humanity desires to produce the best  
possible offspring and will use every available scientific resource to  
do so.
