Try free CCleaner, (sometime known as "crap" cleaner) available at

It also requests that you pay and/or contribute (and sells a "pro" 
version), but to me it is not
pushy or aggressive. It erases junk (you have to tell it which 
applications to check, and
which parts of Windows), has a Registry cleaner, other tools, but 
nothing for malware.
You could just download Microsoft's free "Malicious Software Removal 
Tool" from

<http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx>

But note that it is not a "real-time" detector - you have to remember to 
run it every month
or so yourself, or whenever you sense that there is something wrong.
