Actually I did not attack de Blasio for coming to Nicaragua Solidarity
meetings a quarter-century ago. I attacked him for joining the Israel
lobby to pressure Corey Robin and company to include someone like Alan
Dershowitz at a meeting on BDS. I also attacked him for backing Bruce
Ratner's disgusting commercial exploitation of downtown Brooklyn.

The simple truth is that going to Nicaragua in the 1980s was nothing
like going to Moscow in the 1930s. My organization Tecnica recruited
people who had no other interest except seeing some kind of experiment
in fighting poverty. Nicaragua was seen as a mixed economy despite the
best efforts of the NY Post to turn it into something else. Those New
Yorkers who are registered Democrats will find nothing in that article
to change their mind. My post was not addressed to them but to radicals.
