Mike Ballard posted a part of one of the essays from this issue, which 
references Richard B. Lee. He is a Canadian anthropologist. Lee wrote a 
terrific essay titled "Eating Christmas in the Kalahari." In it he gives a 
striking example of how equality is maintained in so-called "primitive" 
societies. I used this many times in class when talking about the relations of 
production. Inequality is so ingrained in us today, through multiple 
institutions. But as Lee says, it is a pretty recent phenomenon. Read the story
