(This is a project that Derrick O'Keefe, a really great comrade is
involved with. I strongly encourage you to support it.)

*Support Ricochet: Crowdfunded, bilingual and independent media*

By now you've probably heard something about Ricochet. Our ambitious new
bilingual journalism project has been covered by media across the
country, in both French and English. (Check out a couple of great
profiles here <http://o.canada.com/news/ricochet-media-456819> and here
<http://thelasource.com/fr/2014/05/26/un-webzine-deux-langues-une-meme-exigence/>.)

In many ways born of Quebec's student strike -- the Maple Spring of 2012
-- Ricochet is a collaboration between anglophones and francophones,
informed by Canada's colonial history and supportive of contemporary
Indigenous struggles. (For more on Ricochet's background, see this piece
in Green Left Weekly: https://www.greenleft.org.au/node/56596)

We've launched a Crowdfunder to raise start-up money to put together a
state of the art website and start paying journalists. Thanks to the
generosity of over 750 individual donors, we've already raised $45,000
-- in just over two weeks!

We need another $30,000 in the last two weeks of the fundraiser to meet
our goal.

Can you spare a minute to help spread the Ricochet? We can't meet our
target without your help.

Here are three simple things you can do right now to help Ricochet:

1) *Donate to Ricochet*. Our average contribution is $25. That makes you
a member of Ricochet. For larger donations, we have great perks to
offer. Check it out and donate now:

2) *Share our appeal* with your email list, Facebook friends and Twitter
followers. It only takes a few seconds, but you'll be helping us reach
thousands of more people, making our case for new and better media.

3) *Tell your work or your organization about Ricochet.* If you're a
member of a union, an NGO, a Co-op or a network that cares about
independent media, let them know about Ricochet. Send this appeal to
them, but also contact us about coming to make a specific presentation
to your group. Just email info[at]ricochetmedia.ca

Thanks for reading this note, and for your support for new and better
independent media in Canada!
