me: a lot of the old CP had a pretty poor understanding of dialectics, seeing dialectics as a set of formulas for cranking out pat answers. (It's a little like Trotsky's embarrassing presentation in his debate with Burnham in what must have been his worst book, IN DEFENSE OF MARXISM.)
^^^^^^^ CB: A lot of old and new non-CPers have a really poor understanding of dialectics too. See for example these lists. By the way, what is dialectics ? "dialectics" is often just a buzz-word. What it means in philosophy depends on the context. Ontology? epistemology? method of presentation? it can be all three. Jim
