Speaking of poles, I had a Poli Sci prof who taught us Govt and Poltitics of the USSR, in the 50's. After we had been thoroughly convinced of how bad things were in that place, a woman spoke up, asking what we could do, what did he prescribe for these shocked students. The prof said oh, we're like the barber shop the guy came into to get shaved (pole, see? orderly but meandering mind). The barber put a sheet on him and lathered him up well. Then the barber removed the sheet and said that'll be $5. The guy said but I came in for a shave. The barber said you'll have to go across the street for a shave, we just lather here.

The encouraging thing about the Nader/Camejo campaign is that it is indeed creating a base of lots of people who are not sucked into 'lesser-of-evil' politics. This is itself progressive.
Doug:
Well, it's looking to be 1/5 as large as it was four years ago. What's progressive about a shrinking base?
Ralph:
Well, could it be that "progressive" in this case is to be a pole for those who don't cop to shrinking horizons?
Hmm...
The "pole theory."
So how many poles you have guys running down there?
In Canada, we usually get many progressive poles with less than 1%... Monarchists... some Marxist/Leninists... the Rhino Party (double pole, I suppose, so extra progressive)... Family Christian poles of progression, too...
The horizons do not seem to be shrinking.
