This is an outstanding review, which probably contains more scholarship than the entire book. I learnt a lot from Halliday's book on Japan. I wonder how he could associate himself with this book.
Granted that many people do move to the right in their careers, why does the quality of their work also decline in the process? And of course, the decline in quality is associated with a rise in popularity? There has been a wave of new people joining the list at the times as Walt Byars. I hope all of the newcomers feel free to jump in. -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail michael at ecst.csuchico.edu
