Yeah, I was surprised to have ceen books from the seventies and such by Halliday cited positively by good authors. I generally don't like to attribute intellectual transformations to things like like this, but since Halliday is clearly now something of a charlatan I think that money probably is the best explanation. With his wife's publication of Wild Swans, he presumably became incredibly welathy, and thus probably moved to the right.
Louis: I had forgotted about that old amazon account I used to use! If you look further back in my reviews, they are of pretty bad quality. I am just a 19 year old kid so my political views have changed alot in the past few years, and before I learned alot about China I was a doctrinnaire Austrian school libertarian, and this can be reflected in my reviews. I had totally forggoten about that amazon account, so I deleted some of the reviews which now make me look the most foolish (sorry for talking about myself too much, heh).
