The latter evil has been the source of much friction in the marriage of my father- and mother-in-law.< yes, that "whatever" can cause real problems with a marriage. I like to give people rides, BTW. I sort of miss picking up hitch-hikers. As for giving rides being a pain, I've noticed that this can happen with political meetings, too.
