Julio presents an extraordinary challenge for the list. As an economist, I
look at
conditions across the world and throughout history. I often have strong
opinions on
what should have been done. Yet if AMLO were to come at me and ask, "Michael,
here
we are gathered in the center of town. What should we do?" -- I would be at a
loss
to answer him. Obviously, he cannot muster enough force to physically
challenge the
state. The state might behave clumsily and further discredit itself.

I guess that the best I could offer would be to say to the people: "here is
what you
were voting for" .. and then to lay out a popular program. Let the people see
how
the right wing program measures up.

Hopefully the creation of a parallel government could be accomplished without
giving
the government a pretense to attack it physically -- maybe by jiggering with
the
name. Then hold parallel hearings.

Finally, bringing results to grassroots communities so that they can be clear
about
their objectives.

Now you can see why I don't hold any policy positions.
