Conspiracy does not need to be secret. And to say this was done "very
openly" depends upon who you are talking about. It might be open to
those who research this, but most of the public knows nothing of the
couplings among the conspirators. Also, the "opposition" was clearly
partly part of this.
then _all_ politics is a conspiracy.
