Because calling Bush a fascist does not challenge capitalism or
imperialism, it merely

a) Gives support to the DP and thereby supports imperialism

b) Serves to obscure the repressive power and action of bourgeois
democracy _at its best_.

So it's politically not too bright to throw "fascist" around in u.s.
politics.

CB: a) Calling the Bush administration fascistic is a direct attack
on the most dangerous current expression of imperialism. Calling that
giving support to the DP is contorted thinking , and an expression of
sectarian left obsessions about the DP.

b) Sounding the alarm about a bourgeois government moving in a fascist
direction is more important than exposing the repression of bourgeois
democracy at its best.

It's not too "bright" ,as in not diligent and vigilant in opposing
racism, but it is technically politically correct and the wisest course
to point out that the wars on Iraq are fascist, and the domestic policy
of the Bush administration continues the nation's drift in a fascist
direction.
