My thoughts:

I hope to post some thoughts to my blog later today on the danger of Obama, and here is an attempt at a summary: I think Obama is dangerous (more dangerous) from the perspective of left goals. Hillary is a centrist wonk who will if anything, at the end of 8 years, lead to a realisation of the need for a real left. Obama is part of the project to make such issues (as left vs right ideologies) passé. This is clear in his rhetoric and that of the supporters: his very election signifies and fulfils the goals of equality and so on. With his enthroning at hand, we can now *finally* "move beyond" these polarising divisions.

And as Paul Krugman has pointed out on more than one occasion: the most significant issue is universal healthcare and Hillary seems to have the better plan.

And as for young people: a false messiah does not radicalise them, it make cynics out of them by the time they turn 30. There is, though, nothing radical about Obama's platform which is essentially a promise of quite the opposite.

More soon...
