Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - From Israel's point of view, it is critical
that the next American president understands -- and deals with -- the
threat that Iran poses to the free world and Israel, analysts here
said.

As a rule, Israeli officials prefer not to comment on American
political issues, which they view as an internal American affair.

But this time around, the Democratic and Republican primaries in the
U.S. as well as the upcoming election appear to be generating more
public and media attention here than ever before.

The Israeli media is covering the presidential primaries as if it were
a local issue, said Prof. Eytan Gilboa, political scientist at Bar
Ilan University in Tel Aviv.
