   Subject: Support for glibc < 2.1 being put on hold

   A bug discovered in glibc, which seems to be more prevalent in
   releases before 2.1, causes a high frequency of crashing in the
   seamonkey browser. This is a known bug that seems to have no
   workaround from the browser side.
   
   To allow the feature work to continue, after discussing it with many
   of the unix feature developers, focus for the seamonkey project is
   going to move to linux distributions with glibc > 2.1. This includes
   redhat linux 6.0.
   
   What this means is that the mainline tinderbox page will cease having
   a redhat 5.2 column, and it will be replaced with redhat 6.0.
   
   This does not mean that support for pre-glibc 2.1 distributions is
   going away altogether. It just means that nobody who has looked at the
   problem has come up with a fix yet. There are still Top Men working on
   an eventual solution.
   
   To this effect, the release team is in the process of upgrading the
   mainline tinderbox, and most of the unix developers at Netscape will
   be moving to 6.0 to allow further feature work to continue.
