I used the same display card. ( who cares what processor you're using.
right. The problem is with the display card) Well check to see if you have
the correct diver installed. That you have the right library for the right
driver. I have glib2.2 but the card didn't seem to work well with the
glibc2.1 driver. So I got the libc5 driver and well now I'm X-ing away.
Give it a try and see.
Just for your information. The stuff you installed isn't really an upgrade
just a driver for display cards that doen't want to disclose the inner
workings of thier cards. Thus XFree86 doesn't want to support it because of
the "open source requirement". So someone else has to make it, I think it
was precision insight.
