On-the-spot fines for litterbugs in Kelantan

| TIRED of litterbugs giving Kelantan a bad image, Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is contemplating imposing on-the-spot fines on them.
Nik Aziz said although he preferred educating people on cleanliness through campaigns, he was tired of the perception that Kelantan was a dirty State compared to others because of the public's dirty habits.
"What can we do if the people themselves could not care less with the campaigns? Issuing fines will be our last effort to discipline the public," Nik Aziz told reporters after launching a mass cleanliness drive in preparation for the declaration ceremony of Kota Baru as an Islamic City this Friday. //NST 29 Sept | |
