Monday July 24, 2006 Agro clinic to open soon
THE Kemubu Agriculture Develop-ment Authority (KADA) in Kota Baru, Kelantan, plans to make the state a major rice bowl of the country. It plans to do this via the setting up of an agro clinic soon. The clinic will be open on Wednes-days at the KADA headquarters in Lundang. It will help farmers overcome problems relating to managing padi fields. KADA chairman Datuk Seri Annuar Musa said he would be involved in all aspects of the clinic and all far-mers would benefit from the agro clinic. However, special attention would be given to the 360 commercial padi farmers under the KADA scheme, he said after a dialogue session with padi farmers. According to Annuar, KADA has the most padi-growing land in the country after Muda Agriculture De-velopment Authority (MADA) in Kedah. "However, its production is relati-vely low, contributing only 8.25% of the national output." Annuar also said KADA would get an allocation of RM24mil under the Ninth Malaysia Plan. Of the total, RM20mil would be used to increase yields from the present five metric tonnes per ha to 10 metric tonnes per ha, he said. Annuar said 60% of KADA padi land is idle. ///Thestar ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> See what's inside the new Yahoo!
