MUSTAPA: New Universiti Kelantan campuses will bring enormous
benefits to the people.
THE construction of several public institutions of higher learning in
Kelantan has contributed a lot to the state's development, said
Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed.
He cited as examples the setting up of a polytechnic in Kok Lanas,
Universiti Sains Malaysia's medical campus in Kubang Kerian, and the
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia campus in Machang.
Soon, Universiti Kelantan campuses will be built in Jeli and Bachok
and they would surely generate economic growth in the areas and bring
enormous benefits to the people, he told reporters after launching
Merdeka Day celebrations at Wisma Persekutuan in Kota Bharu.
He also said that a new Wisma Persekutuan building would be built for
the 2,000 federal employees in the state.
The government has approved a RM110mil allocation to build the new
Wisma Persekutuan as the current building has become congested and
was no longer suitable, he said.
Mustapa also said that the runway of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport
would be widened at a cost of RM70 million to accommodate bigger
