Hi,

I'm running an openSuSE 11.1 with the SuSE 2.6.27 kernel. This kernel uses
perfmon2 as modules. The /sys/kernel/perfmon directory exists, and especially
the pmu_desc subdirectory looks good. However, I'm unable to run any of the
libpfm examples or pfmon, it either says that the kernel has no support for
hardware counters or that it "can't create perfmon context".

On the same machine I'm running a Gentoo Linux with a 2.6.30 kernel where
perfmon2 is built into the kernel and there everything works fine.

The only difference in the /sys/kernel/perfmon/ directory is that the Gentoo
system contains a syscall interface that the openSuSE system doesn't.

Has anyone an idea how I can get the performance counters work on SuSE?

Regards, Michael
