I think the problem probably comes form the fact that in SLES they have modified
the user/kernel interface of perfmon. Instead of using dedicated
system calls, they
are using ioctl(), if I recall correctly. They have modified pfmon to
use this but that's
it. If you download the official pfmon and libpfm packages, they won't work.
