Hi, I am currently working on a new machine with some Xeon E7530 (Nehalem-EX) processors. With the kernel from the GIT repository, I get the following situation:
-- snip Detected host CPUs: 48-way 1862MHz/12.0MB -- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7530 @ 1.87GHz (stepping 6) detected pfmon PMU model: Intel architectural PMU detected libpfm PMU model: Intel architectural PMU max counters/set: 7 supported pfmon PMU models: [AMD64] [Pentium 4] [Intel Core] [Intel Atom] [Intel Nehalem] [Intel architectural PMU] supported sampling modules: [inst-hist] [detailed] [compact] [raw] pfmlib version: 3.9 kernel perfmon version: 2.9 kernel clock resolution: 1ns (1000000000Hz) host kernel architecture: x86_64 -- snip I am not a pfmon developer, but for some reason the Nehalem PMU model is not chosen, which leads to a disappointing number of supported events. What can I do to debug this situation ? Is there a possibility to enforce a particular PMU model, for example by direct usage of the library ? Thanks, Peter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ThinkGeek and WIRED's GeekDad team up for the Ultimate GeekDad Father's Day Giveaway.
